Clematis 'Samaritan Jo'


A compact variety that blooms over a long period; striking white blooms with deep purple edges; great for small spaces, containers, and hanging baskets. Samaritan Jo Clematis features showy white star-shaped flowers with buttery yellow eyes and deep purple edges at the ends of the stems from late spring to late summer. Its compound leaves remain green in color throughout the season. The fruit is not ornamentally significant. Landscape Attributes Samaritan Jo Clematis is an herbaceous perennial vine with a twining and trailing habit of growth. Its medium texture blends into the garden, but can always be balanced by a couple of finer or coarser plants for an effective composition. This is a relatively low maintenance plant. It is a Type 3 clematis; each spring it should be pruned back to within a few inches of the ground, as it flowers on new wood of the season. It is a good choice for attracting hummingbirds to your yard. It has no significant negative characteristics.
