Buxus 'Winter Gem', common name Korean boxwood, is a broadleaf evergreen shrub. This variety is very hardy, a good choice for northern climates. Greenish yellow flowers appear in the spring. Flowers are sparse, but quite fragrant. In the summer months, the shrub becomes covered with fresh green shiny foliage. Late summer brings deep green glossy foliage that transition to light golden bronze in the fall.
'Winter Gem' is one of the easiest of the Boxwoods to grow and easy to prune. A couple of light trims in season will encourage a neat compact form that will serve it well, whether it is being used as a specimen or it is grouped in sun or partial shade to produce a hedge or border planting.
